Jets’ Head Coach Adam Gase Wants Jamal Adams Back

The New York Jets’ head coach Adam Gase stated today that he wants to see his star player Jamal Adams on the team for the next season.

Gase spoke with the media, saying that he wants to have Adams back after the 24-year old requested a trade, and that he wishes for the player’s situation to be resolved.

“We have to figure out a way to get to a good place, which will get him back, in the right spot, and ready to go,” Gase answered the reporters who were anxious to hear what are his thoughts on the current situation.

The Jets’ HC was very specific regarding Adams, saying that he is one of the best players on the roster, and that the team has to make a huge effort to keep him in the Big Apple.

It seems that the entire organization took the recent developments very seriously, especially the one from a few days ago. The footage of Adams saying to a fan that he tries to work out a trade to the Cowboys caused numerous reactions all over the internet and especially among the Jets’ fans who were very upset after it appeared on the internet.

Adams requested a trade last week according to several sources, underlining seven teams where he wants to continue his career. Ravens, Texans, Cowboys, Chiefs, 49ers, Seahawks, and the Eagles are his desirable destinations.

Adams is still on his rookie contract, which lasts until after the 2021 season. He wishes to have an extension signed by the end of this summer and was pointing that out for a long time. Eventually, after Jets’ lack of interest in this subject, he decided to apply radical measures.

In the upcoming year, he is about to earn $3.6 million and, in the last year of his rookie deal, $9.9 million, which is way bellow Adams’ expectations. There is an option for the Jets to use a franchise tag on him in 2022, but after the current situation, that is not very likely.

According to some sources, the two-time All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler is aiming a salary which would make him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the league.
