Hagi Academy recognises its players and coaches of 2016
Gheorghe Hagi and academy technical director Lucian Burchel presented the academy’s progress before the winter break. Players, coaches, club executives and journalists attended the year-end gathering.
The academy reported 17 national youth titles across its first seven years and an average of 40 players per season involved with Romania’s national teams. Its review also highlighted Viitorul’s progress to the spring stage of the UEFA Youth League and the promotion of 41 players to Liga I over four and a half years.
Players voted for the leading performers in their age groups, while coaches selected their colleagues’ awards. The top three coaches were Nicolae Roșca, Ionuț Mihu and Constantin Fălină. The celebrations included gifts for academy players ahead of the holidays.
